Laura’s painting journey began on an evening November 2022, just days after her oldest son began treatment for a devastating chronic illness, called PANS/PANDAS. Desperate for a way to process the grief and trauma of raising a child with a chronic illness, she picked up a paintbrush and painted a simple, snowy evergreen tree branch- That’s where everything changed. Painting became a way for Laura to process the emotions that she couldn’t even put into words. The heaviness of grief began to lift with each brushstroke, and it changed her life forever. It became a way to take the devastation and tragedy, and turn it into something healing and beautiful. This unexplainable gift of painting felt like it was sent straight from above.
Laura was born and raised in the Willamette Valley wine country region, just outside of Portland Oregon. Here she worked for years as a hairstylist and salon owner, before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia with her husband, Joe, their 2 boys, and her beloved corgi, Sawyer.
Most of Laura’a paintings are inspired by the “moody” aesthetic of her Pacific Northwest homeland. Her art-aesthetic reflects the things she loves about the PNW: its mighty, pointed evergreens, rich-soiled farmland, cloud-kissed skies, and lush vineyards.
Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
